Introduction of Galeri Seni
dan Pelancongan Pontian

Only this Pontian art gallery collects, records, displays, and sells handmade things. Administrators, artists, artisans, authors, pensioners, and zapin instructors, and university students are members.

The art gallery offers portrait painting, batik canting, and other art and heritage lessons. It employs National Craft Institute grads and visual artists. Tourism agencies and affiliates visited the association.

Roslan Bin Idris

He founded the unique New Era Batik Craft and was a Malaysian Ministry of Education Excellent Teacher.  With a background in fine arts, crafts, writing, and satire, he has won many national design and innovation prizes.  

His work has been shown in Singapore, London, and Dubai.  He chairs the Pontian Art Gallery and Tourism Association and matriculated from MPMK Johor Bahru and MPSI Tanjung Malim.

Background of Establishment

The gallery was founded by Roslan Bin Idris in January 2023 and inaugurated by YB Dato' Seri Haji Ahmad Bin Haji Maslan on December 17, 2023.   Painting, colouring, crafting, and batik canting were its first workshops.

Local artists helped the gallery host several national exhibitions of talented artists.   By providing many gallery opportunities, this association has helped many artists financially.   Association promotes local art events and preserves their value for future generations.

Objectives

Serve as a "One Stop Centre" for tourists and locals to learn about art, craft, and heritage, especially in Pontian, by hosting exhibitions.

To promote knowledge and tourism through exhibitions, workshops, and art, and heritage promotion.

Mission

To encourage activities and to collect, exhibit, preserve, and promote art and heritage while raising awareness and appreciation.

To improve Pontian's artistic activities by providing spaces for local artists to create and exhibit their work and creating community jobs in various fields.

The initiative aims to financially secure local artists, make the area a must-see for domestic and international visitors, and foster the next generation of artists.
